Blockchain, the backend technology for nonfungible tokens (NFTs), is well on its way to revolutionizing the gaming world. Similar to how it did with the world of art, the introduction of NFTs will allow in-game assets and other features to be bought by gamers who are passionate about these assets, even trading them for real money. Further, the decentralized distribution of computational energy to run the CryptoBlades Kingdom’s server algorithms (the cloud server) ensures the preservation of no one’s ownership of the game. For players, this means NFT items can be traded without any proprietary legal repercussions.

CryptoBlades Kingdom isn’t our first development. Since 2014, we have created several online games, including Nations at War-White Star Rising and Lightspeed Frontier. It’s all in the details

DeGames are immensely popular due to gamers’ mass adoption of blockchain. Games began with simple mechanisms often involving the creation of NFTs in different colours and shapes, and sometimes with the ability to share them with the rest of the community. While these games provided a great start to the world of NFT games, they quickly become monotonous. DeFi games have evolved greatly since then, becoming more intricately designed, with strategic thinking becoming a requirement for gameplay success. Some games have evolved further, optimizing the user experience and making NFTs easier to trade.

The CryptoBlades Kingdoms contrasts any air of simplicity, developed primarily as a strategy game with the mechanics of a play-to-earn game. Players begin the game with a village on a randomly generated piece of land. From there, each player must pillage other villages and work together with other players through different social collaborations to achieve empire growth. Like other modern games, the gameplay in CryptoBlades Kingdoms airs on the interactive side with several opportunities for logical reasoning, three of which we will share below.

A test of reasoning

First, players may come across situations of combat when a village issues an order on another. At the time of the attack, an army with one CryptoBlades hero and several troops will travel from one village to the next. Users are then presented with four different elements for each character and weapon. Using these details and other statistics, each player must exercise their ability for reasoning to determine which weapon and which character they should use in a given situation. Moreover, the rarer a weapon is, the higher the reward payout, a decision that may factor into how they plan an attack. Players must then find a balance that will result in the highest percentage of winning and the greatest reward.

Another part of the world generation process is dungeons. Each dungeon differs based on accessibility, difficulty, max explorers and rewards that rotate weekly. Each week rewards and the number of explorers that can access it will vary between 4 and 40. Dungeons may be rarer and, therefore, more sparse in certain regions, where a key must unlock these dungeons. Due to the potentially higher stakes of needing to travel long distances to these locations and for the battles themselves, strategic thinking is also called upon to determine which weapons or other enhancements are needed to ensure the best outcome in this high-risk but potentially high-reward strategy.

A final scenario worth considering is the use of guilds. Each player may choose to form a guild to view incoming and outgoing attacks and help coordinate with other players for their own attacks and defenses. These guilds will depend greatly on where their village is positioned relative to others in their empire, as well as the player’s fellow guildmates. When taken into consideration, smart positioning can help to optimize strategic outputs, as traversing requires real-world time to undergo. For example, in some cases, it may take multiple days to venture from one side of the map to another in the CryptoBlades Kingdom.
